Biomass combustion can happen at different scales. While the basic principle is the same, technologies vary considerably depending on the size of the installation, from a wood stove commonly found in households to industrial-size boilers supplying hundreds of MW of electricity and/or heat to hundreds of thousands of citizens. This paper focuses on the most challenging part: individual appliances found in households and how to effectively tackle the emissions from these type of appliances.
